Dryer Vent Cleaning

During routine use dryer vents become filled with lint and other debris, drying time increases and can cause the dryer itself to overheat. The appliance will run longer and consume more energy since the dryer has to run longer to dry your clothes. This can also cause fires in the dryer or the dryer duct. The Consumer Product Safety Commission reports dryer related home fires are on the increase. CPSC figures show that in 1997 there were 16,800 dryer fires, which caused 30 deaths, 430 injuries, and 97.3 million dollars in property damage.

If you have noticed that your dryer is running longer than it used to you may need to have the dryer vent cleaned. The homeowner can clean shorter dryer vents, however others aren’t that easy and may require the use of special tools and equipment.

We have tools specifically designed to clean dryer vents. While dryer vents are routinely blocked with lint, animal nesting is another frequent cause of dryer vent blockage and our equipment allows us to remove these blockages as well.

We have the most updated dryer vent cleaning equipment. Cameras can be used if needed. We can take draft readings and/or temperature readings and determine if you have sufficient pressure. Our system uses air agitation throughout your dryer vent line. See the picture labeled “Dryer Vent Being Cleaned”. We have cleaned thousands of dryer vents, from commercial stacks to small residential lines.

Dryer Vent Cleaning Process

Routine Cleaning is done from the inside or outside. We send a compressed air system down or up the vent. It blows air 360 degrees backwards or forwards, blasting the lint loose and blowing it out. Our system will go 40 to 90 feet and turn corners. The complete system is thoroughly cleaned. We can also use an agitation whip to break loose stubborn lint. A visual inspection of the dryer vent is given with a camera monitor at the end of the cleaning to ensure there is no lint or debris left on the walls of the dryer vent line.

Problem Cleaning is performed when an individual dryer is not drying clothes fast enough. We disconnect and pull the dryer out, install a large blower on the vent, and blow, brush, vacuum and/or dismantle - whatever it takes to get the vent clean! Commercial dryers in central laundry rooms are also cleaned this way.

Even though fire hazards may be exaggerated, some fire departments and insurance companies require that dryer vents be inspected and cleaned regularly.
